How about an option for 3D panel?
Honestly the whole "Trust me, we tried <some obviously pretty rushed> tests and declared the concept Simply Doesn't Work" stance is ridiculous. 3D panels can work, see Moonplayer for a quick example, though there are others. I think fulldive's panel was 3D as well.
The 3D panel appearing on a different focal plane is a non-issue for me, I just look at it and my eyes/brain just automatically adjust, the same way they have been my whole life when I look at closer objects than the background...
What IS a huge issue is the switching between the 2D and 3D modes, particularly when trying to fine tune stereoscopic settings or seeking through a video. This gives me a headache, particularly when dragging sliders and the 2D/3D thing is happening every time I release the damn slider.
But the worst thing is, you try to argue "3D panel doesn't work", but then show a panel perfectly fine while dragging those sliders, and the screen is in 3D mode at the time... At least having the option for a sane menu display would vastly improve this player for me, everything else is rock solid. The option could help satisfy both sides of this fence. :)
EDIT: FWIW, if it makes any difference, I'm using a Samsung S10+ in the gearVR...
