  • Quest Beta v1.0.2 available for testing with support to search SMB IP address

Hi Yum,

thank you so much for your update.

With this update my iMac smb connection was found during the scan and the login works fine.

Now Iā€™m realy happy to continue to use the best VR Videoplayer for the Quest on the market šŸ˜€šŸ‘

Let me guess, the issue was smb 3.0?

Thank you for the update! Really appreciate it.
We fixed some minor issues but I'm not an engineer myself so I wouldn't point out which results your issue before...

Anyway, glad it got fixed. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.

    Cheers.

Hello, i am currently testing the beta version to access files on my Win10 machine via SMB. I do have a collection folder for music videos which contains symbolic links to actual files (and folders) on different drives. These links work fine while playing them on PC and also using SkyBox Oculus version.

The current beta does not show any files or linked folders at all, although the latest official version was at least able to show the linked folders and also access the files within them as far as i can remember. But it also could not display single linked files.

Would it be possible to include a feature to work with symbolic linked files ?

Hello, I am testing beta 1.0.2. It immediately crashes, when scanning for SMB shares. Version 1.0.1 did the same. Let me know, if I can be of more assistance.

I will need to check how to support it and get back to you later.

            Yes.
After the crash, please connect your device to PC and send us (contact@skybox.xyz) the log file that located in:
            Android/Data/xyz.skybox.player/Files/PersistentData/OutLogs.txt
            SKYBOX/SKYBOX_debug_log.txt
We then could analyze the file and see what's going wrong.
            Looking forward to your email.

The beta does not really load with my Quest 2, I get just a black screen with a visual guardian. I tried to re-install it, reset the view and unfortunately there are no log-files (I think because the app does not technically crash). Any idea what I could try?

                Hi there,

Please send us an email at contact@skybox.xyz and share with us your Oculus registered email. I will need to remove you from the beta testing and see if the store version 1.0.1 works for you.

                Cheers,

Could you please support change port when i add my own samba server.
I setup a samba server on the internet, which use port 6070 i can access use solid explorer on my phone anywhere smothly. I eager to have this function on skybox, that will be awesome.

had tested to add my laptop's share folder(smb) in a different subnet.
My laptop's ip is 192.168.1.10(first router), and my quest2's ip is 10.10.6.x(second router), i can watch video through share, it works grate.

                    some questions:
                    1. Can i delete my added smb server?
                    2. How to change my saved password? seems no options for change saved username/password.

                      Sorry for the late reply.

                      1. Yes. Once you are in the added smb server, on the right upper corner you could see a "wrench" icon. Click the icon and click "Sign out", then you should be back to the list of servers and the added server will be deleted.

                      2. Again, click the "wrench" icon and click "switch account".

                        Yum unstickied the discussion.
