  • Moto Z2 Force with Android Pie

Skybox stopped working on Moto Z2 Force (officially supports Daydream) after Android 9 update. The main Daydream app is working; other apps are working as well. Android 8.0 was no problem on this phone. However, after the Android 9 update, Skybox VR fails to start with a message “Sorry, your phone is not compatible with this app. SKYBOX can only run on Daydream-ready phones”.

Needless to say the Z2 Force is a Daydream-ready phone, with the latest version of Google Daydream installed. Other apps are working with this phone in Daydream mode, so I believe it must be a problem with Skybox.

I already tried:

  • Clearing storage data for both the Daydream app and Google VR Services
  • Uninstalling and reinstalling Skybox VR
  • Rebooting the phone
  • Re-pairing the controller

Daydream itself as well as other VR apps are working properly.

I have exactly same issue. But my Z2 force was upgraded to 9.0 two weeks ago. And I had Skybox working flawlessly until the day before yesterday. Please help.

starship , does your Moto Z2 Force work allright in Daydream mode? On both mine and my wife's Z2F Daydream home screen is stretched wide; Library and Daydream Dashboard don't open (black screen). Interestingly, the apps work absolutely fine; it's just the Daydream main app that seems affected. Seems like Moto borked the update when it comes to Daydream.

aoleg Exactly the same symptoms. But as I said, it didn't happen immediately after the update but started to malfunction the day before yesterday. I doubt Google VR updated something in the background.

It doesn't work either on Android 8 (July 1, 2019 Update). I think Skybox needs update for the latest Daydream system. It worked last Wednesday (August 28, 2019).

Before Skybox/Moto/Google issues a fix, I will recommend VRTV app as a substitute to Z2 Force users. Not as functional as Skybox, but it gets basic things done well.

If you guys want to use VRTV Player to play your video files thru your Network SMB, use ES File Explorer's Network and choose VRTV player to play it.
