I was wondering, how do you make skybox figure out if the video is 2D/3D/180'/360'/OU/LR?

It seems to want to start most stuff in 2D cinema mode, which is a bit annoying when watching videos laying down. Can I tag the filename or meta data so it knows what to do with my files in advance?

    Hi Sokomomi,

    That is a great question!
We have been working on a new version of automatic recognition. The new algorithm will be included in the next release.
In the next version, you will be able to influence the recognition results by adding tags like 180/VR/OU manually to the filename, but the idea is that you don't really need to do that much either.

Oh, so it actually analyzes the video itself to figure it out? That's impressive.
Does the algorithm take metadata into consideration? If so, are there specific details it looks for?

        Sokonomi,

        Yes and yes.
We do analyze the video content and metadata(which is actually called exif data when it comes to playing mode) and many other things.
I am afraid I can't go into too much detail here.
        Hope you will understand :)

Since i do not like long filenames. And skybox does not once detect 180* SBS Videos. Is there a thing we can add to the metadata of our videos? For example: Is there a 180° SBS option in exif data?

            Hi,

            1. Right now SKYBOX do recognize 180° SBS videos. 95% time it should be recognized correctly.
If you have many 180° SBS videos which cannot be auto-detected, please share us via support@skybox.com and our engineers will take a look.

No there is not. The easiest way is to add "180_SBS" into the file name. Sorry about that.

            Cheers,

How can i share my problems, when every single video is several GByte in size?
Does it help that i am using Kodi (v17.6. - Krypton) as a Mediaserver on Windows7

Also relying on e-mail is annoying for me, cause i would use only anon-remailers. A comment section or even a from-mailer would make this communication to support@ significant easier.

1.Any media server won`t help improve video recognition accuracy currently.
2.Airscreen PC client or the Rift version will improve accuracy in the future. The reason is that the analysis engine can use more calculations to analyze what type of picture is.
                3. Send us a video format that identifies the error, which makes sense for improving recognition accuracy that we will know what is wrong with the recognition model.
