Playback Stutter at Increased Speed with 8K 3D Videos

Hello Skybox Team,

I’m experiencing stuttering issues when playing 8K 3D videos on Skybox VR Player at increased playback speeds (e.g., 1.5x). The video runs perfectly at normal speed, but when I increase the speed, frame drops and stuttering occur.
Interestingly, the same videos play smoothly at 1.5x speed in Moon VR Player on the same device, so I don’t think it’s a hardware performance limitation.

Details:

Device: Meta Quest 3
VR Mode: 3D side-by-side (Fisheye)
Resolution: 8K
Playback source: Local files
Skybox VR version: 2.0.1 [latest]

Could you please advise if this is a known issue or suggest any settings/workarounds to enable smooth high-speed playback for 8K 3D videos?

Thank you for your detailed feedback!

After some testing, we did notice that 1.5x playback is less smooth than other players. We will further investigate this issue and address it in a future update. Thank you for your patience.

Thank you for checking and confirming the issue. I really appreciate the update and the transparency.
Just wanted to ask if there’s any estimated timeline for when this fix might be included in an upcoming release. I rely on faster playback frequently for 8K 3D content, so smooth performance at 1.5x speed would make a big difference.
Also, if there are any temporary settings or beta versions I could try in the meantime, I’d be happy to test and provide feedback.
