Fast forward/Rewind Problem

Hey guys,

First of all thank you for SkyBox!!

Secondly, there is something that really bugs me about the newer versions.

In the older versions, when you do Fast forward or Rewind and you set a number of seconds, it would do exactly that - if it's 2 seconds back, it would go back two seconds.

But in the newer versions, it seems it skips to a certain part in the movie, instead of a real "2 seconds fast forward" - do you know what i mean?

If I set it to 1 second, 3 second, how many seconds... instead of doing a real jump back or forward to that amount of seconds, it would skip to a certain point.

Can you fix it to how it was?

Hi there,

Thank you for your feedback.

SKYBOX currently doesn't support exact seeking backwards and forwards, so if you set it to 1 second or 3 seconds, it may not fast forward or rewind to the precise point.

We hope you can share with us the INFO level logs. We'd like to check the logs to see what went wrong.

You just need to go to SKYBOX's Global Settings, change the Logging Levels to "INFO", reproduce the issue, then click the BUG icon in the upper-right corner of Global Settings, and send us a bug report attached with logs(tick the "upload logs" box).

Can I ask what do you mean it's not possible? it was on older versions? how come that went away?

While I used the older Oculus/Rift and was in the old version of SkyBox until recently. The Fast Forward/Rewind was a lot better that way.

Can I ask you why did you guys change it to keyframe seek instead of exact second?

Is there a way to give us as users an option to pick which way we want to do it in the settings on a next update? I'd really appreciate that option!

Thank you for your reply.

Exact seeking may cause lag and affect smooth viewing experience, so we changed it to keyframe seeking. Currently there's no option to pick keyframe seek or exact seek. We'll have a discussion about this feature later. Thank you for your understanding!

I see - well, can I just say I believe it makes for a 10 times the better viewing experience? haha, just my opinion.
I have noticed any lag or smoothness issue at all, it's just way worse with keyframe and takes more time to watch. I'm someone who rewinds a lot.

If it's possible to at least add a setting option for us Users to pick, it be great, even if you don't want to make it default - I'd super appreciate it!
