Passthrough videos with color filter

With the Quest 3 launch are you considering this feature like the one DeoVR has implemented? When I saw passthrough support on 1.1.4 i thought this was what you meant. I would really appreciate it.

Hello,

On the current version 1.1.4, Passthrough only works for the UI, which means you can see a real-time view of your surroundings.

We'll try to support viewing videos with green background in passthrough mode in a future release.

Lucy There are also videos using a "grey room" for passthrough, instead of green, so it would be good to have the option for either one.

It is not a good idea to fix the key color to green.
Key colors may vary depending on the creator of the video.
It is necessary to select the key color, set the error, transparency, etc.

Lucy The gray passthrough actually uses an alpha "channel" for fisheye videos defined like this: https://tinyurl.com/2ux37rxk

This is a much better approach than using color keying because:

don't need to restrict colors in the original video in case they conflict with the chroma key
passthrough is applied in postprocessing which means that results on the headset look much better. No more losing fine details like hair.

Any update on this one? Lack of color passthrough on Skybox is the only thing making me still use Deo sometimes and I don't like Deo XD

I don’t know if meta has open spatial data. It would be a good experience to be able to freely place the screen on the wall in real room

Hi, we have developed this feature before but we are not satisfied with the effect so this feature has been delayed. For now, there is no schedule for this feature.

I second Jawomo's question. Alpha channel passthrough would be great.

Why not just release the feature in next beta and let users test and post their feedback.
For beginning target color selection and enabling passthrough mode would be enough to play with the feature.

Theres more and more AR content getting released, so collecting some user feedback in early stages should help to push development.

Agree with Jawomo. Maybe comunity could help with some good ideas. We all know that this could look very bad - but other players have this feature too and they are also terrible. 😀

+1 from me on the alpha passthrough.
I purchased Skybox couple of days ago, only because I saw the announcement that the passthrough is finaly supported.
Well, to be perfectly honest I don't care about passthrough UI. Its not such a big deal for me.
Real video alpha passthrough on the other hand, is the future!
Keep my money but also keep up with the advancing technology please.
