Hello guys , guess in near future more and more people will become to use their VR sets for watching 3D and 2D movies as the screens and optics of the VR sets become better and better ! Guess some of you already tried that with the new Meta Quest 3 and saw how much better this VR set could be for watching movies !
So to the topict now ! I have the PC (Steam) version of SkyBox player . It works perfect for video playing 2D and 3D SBS movies . No problem to open all kind of .mkv , .mp4 , .mov files in different video encodings which is great !
But there is one great drawback for the Home Cinema entusiast and this is the AUDIO ! The player decodes fine all kinds of audio streams like DolbyDigital 5.1 , DTS , AC3 and mix them into 2 channel stereo which is fine if you use your VR headset speakers or phones . But if you want real Home Cinema experience then you need to pass somehow that encoded multichannel audio stream to your home AV receiver and then to your 5.1 or 7.1 home speakers !
So now the problem is that player doesnt support such multichannel audio stream passtrough and this is very big issue for me . The best that i can do now is to get 2.0 channel stereo to my home 5.1 audio system !
You guys can check it for yourself - i will share my experience so far .

you can try this trailer Trailer A 3D Flat Full SBS
I am using Virtual Desktop , connect my Quest to VD then set Audio Streaming=> VR Headset and Computer
Then start VirtualBox trough SteamVR play the movie and i can get the decoded DTS audio stream into stereo 2 channel into my PC and then its easy to stream it to my AV receiver and my home theater speakers . But it still just 2 channel stereo ...
I need some way to get this undecoded multichannel audio stream to my PC and then pass it to my AV receiver and let it to decode it in full mulichannels !
Hope you SkyBOX guys to help my idea become true and i believe this will help a lot of your customers in future too.
Hope SkyBOX will be VR player that can pass multichannel audio streams and i believe this will be really nice as you know - the audio is the half of the whole Cinema experience ! 😀
So thank you in advance for your support !
