[SKYBOX VR] Quest v1.1.5(beta): Supported watching YouTube videos and more

Hey everyone,

We're excited to release a new beta version 1.1.5 in Quest store! You can manually switch to "v1.1.5 Beta Release" and try out the latest features.

What’s new:

Supported watching YouTube videos
Supported viewing Network images
Added presentation mode
Improved filename recognition
Modified 3D Full-SBS Matching function

YouTube channel is finally available for you to view and search for more video content in SKYBOX VR. Meanwhile, SKYBOX now supports viewing images stored in your SMB share and DLNA server as requested.

We also added back the Presentation Mode in this version. When you turn on "Presentation Mode" (like Kiosk mode) in Global Settings, videos will automatically play from the beginning everytime you put on your headset. Please note that If you put on the headset quickly after putting it off (less than 5 seconds), the video may start from where you left off.

For Fisheye190 or Fisheye200 video files, simply include key words "fisheye190" or "fisheye200" in the file names, then SKYBOX will automatically present them in the correct mode. We also optimized the support for Full SBS videos in the new update to provide a better viewing experience.

Good Job! This is the best update I've ever had.

Please help implement the following two wishes if possible:

Navigate to the previous/next picture with the joystick or control knobs on the controllers while viewing pictures, .
Display folder thumbnails using 'Folder.jpg' within their respective folders in SMB sharing scenario.

Bug report:

The file browser doesn't update the filename, even after clicking the refresh icon or changing directories back and forth several times. This issue occurs when a file has just been renamed on the SMB server.

This issue has had been fixed on v1.1.4.

Hi Ted, could you please tell us your SMB configuration? We haven't reproduced the same issue yet.

with "in app hand tracking" disabled, the manus still pop up on pinch movements, and the void scene, allows moving the display by accident.

Please consider not only "disabling" hand tracking properly, but also have the option to temporarily enable it.
For example: if I lift up an open hand in front of the screen, then show an fade-in-animation for 2 seconds, and if the hand is still up, enable hand controls until the hand is lowered after last input.

Today's update seems fix the refresh issue. But it turns out showing something like "Network error, error code D001" frequently. I'll check the detail message in this weekend and report to you.

Tried the v1.1.5 beta - nice enhancements
However when multiple videos are queued either in list or shuffle mode the player control panel/menu opens at the end of a video and at when the next video opens. This is particularly annoying with flat 2D videos as the panel covers a large portion of the video image. Versions 1.1.2 and earlier would just open and play the next video without popping up the player control panel. Note: when you open the panel to click the next button the panel closes before opening the next video).

I would prefer (in order of preference):
restore the behavior of v1.1.2
a setting option either have the panel open or not
the panel can be moved by the user so it is less obtrusive (sticky setting it doesn't have to be set with every video)

Thanks, Skybox is still the best player on my Quest 2 and I use it the most.

Test report of the updated version:

Filename refreshing issue is fixed 80 ~ 90%, but the filename occasionally does not update.
Noise is around the view of peripheral while HD-Pro mode is not enabled, occasionally.
Network error with error code D001, as reported in the app.
After uploading the bug report in Skybox, the Quest-2-controller cannot point to the screen.

Hi there, we haven't received your bug report. If you can't point to the screen after sending the in-app bug report, maybe your network is not stable. After sending the bug report, you should receive a message saying "report sent".

Error Code D001 may also have something to do with your network, please reboot your router or SMB server and see if it works better.

Hi there, I'm sorry the new Client doesn’t support custom thumbnails. We’ll bring back this feature in future releases.

The network error concern could be my network's issue, it happened rarely now. But filename refreshing and noise situations still happens frequently.

Does your YouTube app support 4K viewing as the default YouTube vr on meta does not on the quest 3 yet.

Hello,

You can follow the steps to switch to beta version:

Visit SKYBOX VR Player product detail page with browser or Meta Quest mobile app. (Make sure you login to your Facebook/Meta account)
Click "Version" and select "1.1.5 Beta Release: 1.1.5"
Uninstall and reinstall SKYBOX on your Quest 3.

EDIT: If you connect like I did in Airlink, you will install 1.1.12 no matter what. New to Meta Quest, I do not know what this environment name is, but it is outside Airlink, with applications available on the bar. That is where it needs to be installed.

version 1.12 (1367) is installed every time.

I am logged in a browser into my Meta account. I change the version to 1.1.5 beta. I put the Quest 3 on. Uninstall Skybox, reinstall Skybox. And it remains 1.1.2 (1367)
I've tried 5 times now.

What can I do to get the beta 1.1.5?
