thanks for your answer, but .. i dont see any explaination between airscreen and DNLA is it the same ?
for exemple i have PLEX server on my mac, how is "airscreen" different to "plex" ?

DLNA allows you to access your media server like Plex or Windows Media Server within SKYBOX, and it is under the Network Channel on the main menu.
AirScreen streams videos from your Mac or PC SKYBOX client through local wifi network, and it is under the AirScreen Channel on the main menu.
I'm not sure what you mean by the last question.

Is AirScreen still the only way to stream videos and use filename configuration? Everything I stream needs to be set manually, it's a bit tiring.

We are adding filename recognition to DLNA soon :)

Can you just add a selection for default view? 99% of people are probably viewing 180x180 (180 degree) 3d side by side videos. Almost makes the recognition useless.

Andy I completely agree with readonly@ Have you given this any additional consideration? I find myself having to set most videos to 180 and side by side. I do not want to have to edit the filenames to make sure they are some format, and it would be easy enough to manually change in the rare circumstance that it's not a 180 side by side.

There's a good chance that anyone is going to be watching files of the same format, so being able to set the default format in settings would probably be perfect.

I am having issues with a .Mov 360 video (Our own work) that plays as 360 with the GoPro App no worries but with the combo of Daydream and Skybox it is not being recognized as a 360 file. I have changed the file name to include _360 at the end and still no joy! Please help! Many thanks!

Is the video Equi-Angular Cubemap format?
If that's the case, you need to manually change the video format to Youtube 360.
Our engineers are working hard to make SKYBOX automatically recognize this kind of format. Please be patient with us :)

Hi Andy,

How can one turn off auto detection of VR ? I think a simple old school file listing from of content from a smb server is needed. I have a hard time trying to figure out the name of the file ... hover over does not work when the file has been auto detected (list view or grid view) - if i had 100 vr files then they all have similar names after skybox auto detects

How do you know they are auto-detected by SKYBOX please? Are you referring to read files in the "VR Videos" on the left side?

Please tell us what device are you using?

Also by "simple old school file listing", would you please give us an example?
Because there are limited space in the display area, we certainly cannot display the whole filename if the name is very long.

I have some questions about the SkyBox

When I watch 3D movies, the films have that depth on the screen, but they do not come across objects like in a movie theater. Probably because you do not have 3D glasses on.
Can you give me an information here?
When I watch Youtube VR movies, I have to manually switch to Youtube each time. I know, however, that one can enter at the file name determined terms (180x180, LR, OU, etc.), so that the Skybox, without my input the correct VR setting chooses.
Do you know the short name that the Skybox needs to play these movies?
There was a thread that did not help me.
When I stream movies or small videos at home over my network, they run very smoothly. I have 1u1 with a 50Mbit contract and a Fritz! Box 7490th
But when I'm with buddies who have poorer Wi-Fi, hook the videos.
Of course I can put the films on the glasses, but I have the hope that I can transfer the films without the WLAN on site. For example, via Bluetooth or as with my camera, where I select the wireless camera and then transfer the files over it.
Are there any possibilities here?
Porn: I download porn from different platforms and they almost all have different formats. But with the skybox I can not get most formats in the quality that you can see online on the website. Either the edges are so blurry, that the whole picture is not working or the removal of the actors is not correct. Funny thing is that when I get the control forward, usually everything is very good and the way it fades out, looks look hurt in the eyes.
Do you have an idea here?

Wenn ich 3D Filme gucke haben die Filme ja diese Tiefe auf der Leinwand, aber es kommen nicht wie im Kino einem Gegenstände entgegen. Wahrscheinlich weil man keine 3D Brille auf hat.
Sehe ich das so richtig?
Wenn ich Youtube VR Filme gucke, muss ich jedesmal manuell auf Youtube umstellen. Ich weiß aber, dass man ja an der Dateibezeichnung bestimmt Begriffe eingeben kann (180x180, LR, OU, etc.), damit die Skybox, ohne mein zutun die richtige VR-Einstellung wählt.
Kennt Ihr den richtigen Begriff für den Dateinamen, dden die Skybox benötigt, um diese Filmche abzuspielen?

Ich kann natürlich die Filme auf die Brille packen, aber ich habe die Hoffnung, dass ich die Filme auch ohne das WLAN vor Ort übertragen kann. Z.B per Bluetooth oder aber wie bei meinem Fotoapparat, wo ich das WLAN von Fotoapparat anwähle und dann darüber die Dateien übertrage.
Gibt es hier Möglichkeiten?
Pornos: Ich lade mir Pornos von verschiedenen Plattformen runter und die haben fast alle unterschiedliche Formate. Ich kriege aber mit der Skybox die meisten Formate nicht in der Qualität, wie man sie auf der Webseite online schauen kann. Entweder sind die Ränder so unscharf, das dass ganze Bild gar nicht geht oder die Entfernung der Darsteller stimmt nicht. Komisch ist auch, dass wenn ich das Steuerelement nach vorne hole, meistens alles sehr gut ist und so wie es sich ausblendet, tut das gucken in den Augen weh.
Habt Ihr hier eine Idee?

Sorry for the late reply.

In order to have the same experience as in movie theatre, you need several things:
1) 3D enabled television/projector/monitor
2) real 3D Content (not top-bottom or side-by-side, but something like red blue style)
3) compatible 3D glasses

Right now with the VR glasses, we can only have the feeling of 3rd dimension(depth). But the depth cannot be compared with the one you get from movie theatre.
In SKYBOX, try adjust the "3D offset" in "Advanced Setting". When you apply 0.5 to the 3D video you watch, you should observe more of a 3D feeling than when you apply 0.
With regards to Youtube VR movies, right now we don't support filename recognition.
You need to manually adjust it in the "Stereo Mode".
However we are developing this feature.
Please be patient with us :)
With poor Wi-Fi, the best way to watch a movie smoothly is to store it locally.
Right now we do not have plan for Bluetooth support.
We will talk about the possibility of this in the coming product meeting.
The edges are too blurry
This is because we are using FFR to optimize the performance of SKYBOX.
In the coming v0.2.0, we will lower the FFR level. It should improve the image quality on the edges.

This is because when you call the control panel, the image is actually 2D (both eyes display the same image).

If the videos look weird, please try to change the "Stereo Mode" to set the videos correctly.
Or you can use the "Monoscopic" in the "Advanced Settings" which allows you to see the same image in both eyes.

I have a bunch of 3D SBS videos that are encoded in 4K (1080p for each eye) which always display (on the Oculus Go) as 180º, so I have to change to Cinema mode every time. They are all have 3D-SBS in their names and are being played over Airscreen. Is there something I am doing wrong? Is there a naming tag that can force Cinema mode instead of 180º?

Please send us the full filename you used for 2D video which failed to recognize as 2D.

Hi, thanks for the reply. So for example, "Avatar (2009) 3D-SBS.mkv" is one such video. To clarify -- it is a 3D movie and recognised as 3D, but Skybox treats it as a VR 180º video so the frame is stretched all the way to the top and bottom of the field of view, rather than being in a rectangle of the correct aspect ratio.

If I change it manually the player now seems to remember the right selection in the future for that movie, which is cool, but I'm just not sure why it isn't picking it up in the first place.
