How to play VR video files directly from a url? HLS stream like *.m3u8

Is there any way to play VR video files directly from an URL? I have some 3d side by side 180°VR video files on a web server that I would like to play. Just accessing them with the Gizmor or PLAY'A inside Browser just plays them as regular 2d video files without the VR aspect functioning.

I've tried most of the major video players, but most of them just let you play from local and not from links directly to the video (in my case, .m3u8) files.

Hi there,

Sorry that SKYBOX doesn't support playing videos directly from a URL right now.

You can store those VR videos on a Samba/DLNA server and use SKYBOX to play them.

Lucy Being able to support playing m3u8 on a web server or local network is a very practical feature, hope to introduce such a function.

There's a trick to achieve your requirement.
Since AirScreen uses HTTP to stream videos, you can use AirScreen protocol to send the video link to SKYBOX as you want. Furthermore, you can send not only HTTP links by that way, but also any link the player core supported.
Unfortunately, I checked the database file of AirScreen PC client, and they didn't save the streaming URL straight to the database, so it's a little bit hard to modify the streaming URL by hacking the database file.
But you can rely on this reimplement of AirScreen server: https://github.com/buchou/karabako
You can just replace the mediaDict.url in activePlay event to what you want.
