Videos no longer play after upgrading GFX card

Hi, I've been using Skybox for the last couple of years without any issues, using an Oculus Rift S.

Yesterday I upgraded my GFX card (from an GTX 2080 to a GTX 3080), and since then, videos refuse to play. These are files that have worked fine previously, and continue to play fine through, say, VLC, but not Skybox.

They'll open up fine, but then nothing - the timeline bar stays at 00:01, pausing and resuming playback makes it progress by a single frame, I can drag the timeline around and it refreshes the frame correctly, but just no actual playback.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Skybox app, I've tried multiple files at various bitrates, I've re-added my Rift device, there's nothing obvious in the outLog.txt, so I'm a bit stumped. Note that all other games and Oculus apps work fine, so while this is undoubtedly something to do with the GFX card upgrade, only Skybox seems to be affected.

Any other suggestions for what I could try?

Hi there,
Please reinstall your Graphic Driver and make sure the old Driver has been removed completely.
We have encountered the same issue when updating to the graphic cards and fixed it by reinstalling the graphic driver.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've given that a try, uninstalled the Nvidia drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller, and reinstalled the latest - but no change in Skybox. Is there anything else you can think of (or any others ways to debug it?)

We are not familiar with Display Driver Uninstaller.
What we use is simply going to the NVIDIA official website and download the drivers there:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/drivers/
There is one step when installing the new driver, NVIDIA asks for if you want to "Clear old drivers", and choose that option should make the issue go away.

Also, what is the resolution of the video you are trying to play please?
What could happen is that SKYBOX fails to use hardware decoding due to the driver change.

Display Driver Uninstaller is just an extra level of clean driver install (i.e. safe mode, remove everything, then reinstall). I've tried the plain Nvidia reinstall with "clean old drivers", just to check, and it's the same effect. This is still with the latest 471.41 Nvidia drivers.

I've tried various resolutions and bit rates - from 720p 1.Mbps up to 5k 30Mbps, but unfortunately none work. I did get a few seconds of the lowest bit rate playing just now, but then it's just stopped again, and won't play at all again. I'll email over the log for the last couple of attempts.
