Skybox app carshes on Oculus Quest 2 after 40min+ of viewing a movie file. It happens to all the files I watch and it does this with both locally stored and networked files. After the app has crashed and I quit the app via the Quest 2 menu all the icons/pictures of all my library apps are not displayed but I can still re-launch Skybox or any other app. Not sure if this is an indication that Skybox or the hedset itself had run out of resources or not? I have tried turning of the WIFI when watching locally stored movies but that did not prevent the crashes from happening. Even doing a reboot before using Skybox does not help. Watching plain H.264 SBS 3D movies with no subtitle files. I have searched the forum here but have only seen crash reports relating to the network streaming. Could someone please assist me. I have purchased Skybox off the Oculus store 3 weeks ago.

Hi there,

Next time when it happens, would you please check if the headset if overheated?
Since you mentioned that it happens to all videos and on both network and local playback, it sounds more likely like a system crash instead of app crash.
I would also suggest you to factory reset the headset to see if it helps.
We received similar feedback a while ago and the guy fixed it by returning and getting a new headset.

I have check since I posted here that the crash occurs almost exactly at 1 hour and 30 min of whatever I'm watching. I doubt if it is an overheating issues as it does not matter if I was using the headset before I started watching a movie or not as the time always stays the same. I remember many months ago that I had the same kind of problem running PLEX on my TV. It was never resolved though so I stopped using PLEX all together. Is there some crash or debug file I can view on my device?

We would need to check the log to locate the issue.
I think I already received your email at our support email contact@skybox.xyz right?
However I'm not able to send the email to your email server cause it keeps blocking our emailbox... I also tried another email ending with recreate.game but also failed...

Hi, I have been having the exact same problem as the original poster. I use the latest versions of Skybox and of my Oculus 2. I use the Plex media server to stream my videos and about an hour and 30 minutes or so, the Skybox app crashes.

If I open Skybox, I need to find my video and watch the very last few minutes to the end. It's very annoying. I've done a few tests on my side.

First, I switched to the miniDLNA streaming service on my Linux box instead of using Plex but I had the same things happen. Last night, I put a video on my headset device directly and this time it worked. I was able to view the whole video without Skybox crashing. From what I can tell, there seems to be a buffering problem when using the Skybox app while streaming. What can I do on my side to fix this? I don't see any options on my side to change to rectify the problem.

Hello,

Please follow the steps to switch to beta version 1.1.0 and see if the problem still remains.

Here're the steps to switch to beta 1.1.0:
Through Oculus app:
Open Oculus app, and tap your Profile picture.
Go to My Library and select SKYBOX VR Player.
Scroll down and tap Version to open the Version notes window.
Select your preferred version.
Through Oculus website:
Go to oculus.com and find SKYBOX VR Player.
Scroll down to find Version information.
Click on the down arrow sign to switch versions.
