Skybox on Quest 2 frequently crashes

Using skybox to watch videos using an SMB share .

I don't have any crashing issues with other apps, so I don't think it is the hardware.

The 2 types of crashes I get are:
1. Loading the SMB share folder contents. Probably 10% of the crashes.
2. Opening a new video to play. 90% of the crashes.

(2) is the biggest issue. It is random, cannot be reproduced as after a crash I can restart skybox and open the same file just fine. Sometimes the crash occurs right after a quest2 boot. Sometimes after a long time.

Other times it will be really stable for a long time, other times I get frequent crashes, maybe every 2 or 3rd file I try to open.

Once a video is playing , it does not crash. It seems that the crash is caused by the file open process.

I'm also having the exact same crashing issue. Seems like it's still not fixed after ~ 3 months. I'm eager for a fix because this is getting quite annoying! Any insight on the subject from the devs?

I figured out a bizarre workaround fix -- I noticed that the quest was stable on one of my SMB server, and very unstable on the other.

The most obvious difference was the Server name on the stable server was a shorter length. So, I shortened the unstable server name from "Mediaserver" to "Medsrv", and no more crashing, has been 100% stable since I made the change yesterday.

Interesting. I also name my Server as "MediaServer". However, instead of using direct SMB shares, I have Plex installed to nicely catalogue and serve up all of my media content to all of my devices.

For SkyBox VR this works very nicely via Plex's DLNA Server. So in SkyBox VR I just select Network then my Plex Server and all of my content is nicely grouped via my Plex content grouping etc.

Just thought I'd mention this, as it makes a very tidy solution (as an alternative to direct SMB share browsing).
