[Update 02/08/21]

Timeline:

Cross Buy among Quest and Rift version offered starting from Feb. 19th 2021 (finally Oculus approved)
Quest Beta v1.0.2 with SMBv3 support and manually input IP address feature coming on Mar. 9th 2021

Known Issues:
Multiple issues related with SMB and DLNA feature, including the following:

Report "Network Error" when trying to connect a server
App crash when connecting to certain server
Cannot find certain DLNA servers
Report "An Error has Occured" when trying to play certain files

If you encounter the issue mentioned above (or other related issues), please contact us at contact@skybox.xyz so we could have you in the beta channel to test the upcoming Quest v1.0.2.
We intend to fix all network-related bug in this new version.

Things we plan to work in 2021 Q1:

SMBv3 support
Manually input IP address to search SMB server
[Beta Channel] Hand Tracking Support on Quest 1 & 2
[Beta Channel] 90Hz support on Quest 2
Hardware decoding for high-resolution videos on Rift & Steam version

A bit more from the devs:

2020 was difficult for us: less money, less staff, nearly non development progress.
Yet we are still here and we are better now.

We are sorry for the negligence upon the release of Quest 2 and we are trying hard to speed up the development to support more features in 2021.

On the other hand, you may find that the response to emails/posts is slow.
There is one me and too many of you (which I'm very grateful).
I'll be sure to response to you as soon as possible and I really appreciate your patience.

We are hoping to get more people to work on the project and things would become smoother once we have more people.

We will check this.
MiVR's management team was dismissed. Hence there will be no update on MiVR anymore.

Nope. The major update on Advanced Setting will be go online for beta testing next week.
AirScreen will be available on Rift possibly within the next 2 versions.

Please readjust the gyroscope on your device.
When gyroscope doesn't work, the screen would keep drifting to one side.

Additional Info for the Freeze issue [Oculus Quest]
You write that an open issue at the moment is a freeze after 20min - via Network and locally. Never had that after 20min.
But since yesterday (or maybe 2 days) I have the problem that the Skybox Player freezes completly after 10-30s and I have to restart my Oculus Quest in a hard way. The controller does not respond in any way - so I cannot get out to the Menu.
In my case the issue occurs only when playing files via SMB/Network and NOT when a file is played locally. The files are mostly 3840x1920 but the video resolution ist not relevant - it freezes.

I have automatic updates enabled and Skybox ist the newest version ... but I cannot tell if the update happened in the last 2 days and the bug came with it.
I use my Quest since August and never had a problem with Skybox. So thanks for the good work.

since the last update I have been having a problem with some of my movies being grayed out. They do not have an hour glass display it shows the name of the movie and time but is just grayed out. Keep in mind I had no problems playing the movies before but now it seems I can't. nothings changed on my server everything is still in its original place. Latley tho it seems to be getting worse now i have half of a folder if not the entire folder of movies grayed out. i tried uninstalling on my server and head unit but only some are playable. do you have a link to an older version of skybox from earylier this year that i can use because i did not have this problem before the last update.

What VR device do you use and what server do you use please (SMB or DLNA or AirScreen)?
If possible, please share with us a video that is grayed out at contact@skybox.xyz so we could test on our side.

im using a Oculus go with air screen. I will try to record the problem and send it to you asap.

Not at the moment ... my suspicion is that when the Wifi channels (5G) have a heavy load and my SMB server (Samba on Ubuntu) has some troubles keeping up the stream, maybe Skybox is first stuttering and then it hangs - If it would just stop playing, the issue wouldn't bother me so much but when the player hangs up the only thing I can do ist a hard reset of my Oculus Quest.
But I couldn't reproduce the problem in the last two days. So maybe its gone for the moment - hopefully.
I'll keep You informed If it will come up again.
