  • Audio stuttering during video playback with Oculus Rift

Hi,

I've got two HP Z820 workstations running Windows 10 with Oculus Rift headsets.

Playing back an MP4 video in Skybox VR Player, the audio stutters on both of them.

The same video plays fine on one of the machines in Windows Media Player using both the Realtek and Rift audio drivers.

Have another Windows 10 PC (non HP) playing the same video fine in Skybox on Oculus without any stuttering.

I'm very perplexed

Any idea what's up?

    Some additional info:

    The MP4 in question contains H.265/HEVC video with AAC audio.
    There is also video stutter.

    Is there a possible issue with poor performance in decoding this file and if so, how would I go about fixing it from my end?

      Further investigation indicates that the playback problems started after an update to Skybox 0.1.4.

            Hi zappa2,

            We do not offer beta versions to our customers :)
            When the problem is fixed, it will be released officially ASAP on app stores/our website.

              I'm having this problem with my Samsung Odyssey Headset too when playing back 3840x1920 H264 stereo footage. The video runs smooth, but the audio stutters making it awful! The problem is software related, not due to my hardware not being powerful enough as it runs fine in SmPlayer.
