I haven't used my GearVR for a while because I didn't have time, and decided to watch a movie. What a great surprise to see that Skybox was updated with somehow a better image, few new functionalities like and a new scene (in fact it's a shame that there's no comprehensive list of core functionalities separated from format compatibilities, and more importantly a showcase of available scenes).
Because besides the engine and the UX, if there's one striking thing Skybox does great are the immersive and reactive scenes. They are beautifully and precisely crafted in the details.
So I would like to know if there are any more theater scenes, especially thematic ones (eras, places or movie genres) that are planned, and by curiosity what the production and implementation of a new scene entices that would make it a difficult or absent process.
Meanwhile, here are a "few" ideas:
Era Theaters
- An early 20th century Art Nouveau cabaret with flat stools and bistrot couch.
- A 1940s Drive-In Outdoor Cinema with parked roofless cars.
- A 1950s Art Deco Browdway-like Opera theater
- A 1960s radical Art Deco Miami theater on a sea port park
- A 1970s post-space-age Nouvelle Vague/Exploitation theater with orange/psyché designs
- A 1980s neon/arcad-y popular theater
- A 1990s coffe-house/millenial deco popular theater
Places examples
- A Pacific beach shore theater (with night/day setting) for: The Great Blue, Point Break, Bitter Moon, Ghost Ship...
- A cold Alpine snowy mountain cabin lake theater (with night/day setting) for: Ritual, Dolls, Fargo, Secret Window...
- A Saharian dunes desert with ruins and Namibian arid (with night/day settings) for: Lawrence of Arabia, Stargate, Aladin, The Cell, Babel...
- A Mediterranean Cyclades island
- A New York low roof
etc...
Theme examples:
- A Horror theme in an abandoned manor hall with laying around torture instrument for:
- A Spooky theme
- A Fantasy theme
etc...
I don't have to finish and complete this post but you get the drill.
