Please Help me to understand this:
I have two headsets; Quest 2 and Quest 3S. I purchased this app because it SAID I could simulcast a 3D movie from my PC (using the SKYBOX server) to the two headsets (and because I'm too lazy to setup HTTP streaming in Plex or VLC).
Both headsets are on the same account but the Skybox Player apps just tell me I can't run them on two headsets simultaneously via an annoying popup.

Do I have to purchase it twice or something - even though it won't actually allow me to - with the only option now being: Launch if both are using the same account and profile and it toggles between "Launch" and "Install" if the two headsets are on the same account but different profiles.
I received this from Skybox via email but it neither answers the question nor does it solve the problem!:

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback.
I'm sorry that you can't run the same Meta Quest app simultaneously on multiple devices using the same account. This is due to Meta update. It's not a problem that SKYBOX app can handle. If you use different account, you will not encounter this issue.
What's more, SKYBOX no longer supports streaming the same video from PC to multiple devices using AirScreen. In the new beta version 2.0.2, you can create a room and invite friends to watch movies with you. The current version supports playing videos from the following sources:
1. Local Videos. The video files must be stored in identical file paths and have identical filenames across all devices.
2. Videos from SMB, DLNA, AirScreen servers. All users must be connected to the same Local Area Network.
3. Videos from WebDAV servers, Plex, Emby and Jellyfin Media servers. The server should be accessible under public network.
To switch to the beta version, please follow the steps below:
On your Quest 2 or Quest 3, go to Quest Settings > Privacy & safety > Installed app > find SKYBOX VR Video Player > click Release Channels > select "2.0.0 Preview" and install the update.
Feel free to contact us if you have other concerns.
Best regards,
Lucy
Again, this is not an answer - at least not one I can understand. Talk to me like I'm 10, maybe I'm just missing it!
First, by SKYBOX's implementation of this policy, I assume this means that every dad who bought headsets for the family so they can play together will now have to purchase the Skybox player for each family member who wishes to participate. I'm assuming because it's not been made clear to me yet, whatever-anyway... That's kind of the opposite of "sharing" as outlined in the linked "meta update" - and if it is in line, all I can say is: Oh, Zuckerberg...
In the metaphor of a television set (remember, this app is for playing videos, watching movies, etc.) this now means that you have to pay the Antenna manufacturer every time a new person sits down on the couch next to you and wants to watch with you. What?!?
None of my other "players" implement this policy in this way. Virtual Desktop, 4XVR, Bigscreen and DeoVR do not behave in this manner!
I initially tried doing it as suggested and that didn't work (thus still seeking answers!):
- I added another profile under the same account,
- logged on to different profiles per headset,
- And the SKYBOX app complained it couldn't run multiple instances.
- On the store page the options toggled between "Install" and "Launch".
There was no Purchase or Buy option available! This is the reason why a deleted the second profile and attempted to use it from the same profile on the two different devices. This is bad if this is implying we need an entire'nother Meta account for every headset we own. No longer will we be able to pull a headset off the shelf, hand it to a friend and say "let's watch a movie together". The account maintenance alone is going to drive multi headset owners insane - not to mention the anti-green power usage consumed by the extra hours, days, and weeks that maintenance will require.
At this point I would appreciate it if Skybox would remove this line from their store page:
You can also stream one video to multiple devices simultaneously.
As the page is addressing a single user - it's read by potential customers as what to expect that the software can do FOR ME. It would kinda be like Ford advertising their truck-beds were an acre in size. Sure, they are if you own a hundred trucks. But no, a single truck doesn't have an acre-sized bed and the Skybox player can NOT "stream one video to multiple devices simultaneously". Indeed, it would seem to be more accurate to say something almost the opposite:
You can only stream one video to one Meta Account - using the Skybox app on multiple profiles without separate Meta accounts simultaneously is impossible!
If I'm misunderstanding this please educate me! If this is correct please teach me how to apply for a refund!
