[SKYBOX] Quest v2.0.0 (Preview): Multiplayer Mode, Dolby Vision and Blu-ray ISO

Hi all,

We are delighted to announce the preview release of SKYBOX v2.0.0. This major update introduces Multiplayer mode, Dolby Vision, Blu-ray ISO support and many other highly requested features.

What's new in SKYBXO Quest v2.0.0 (Preview):

Added Multiplayer Mode: In the "Room" channel, you can host a room and invite friends to watch movies with you.
Supported accessing Plex, Emby and Jellyfin Media Servers: Navigate to the "Network" channel, tap the "Add" icon in the upper right corner, and select "Add Plex", "Add Emby" or "Add Jellyfin" to access your self-hosted media libraries.
Supported Blu-ray ISO Format: You can play 2D ISO files and access the disc menu. 3D ISO files are temporarily not supported.
Optimized HDR display: Dolby Vision videos can be correctly displayed.
Optimized spatial audio: Ambisonic, 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound are supported.
Supported Searching Files by Filename: You can quickly locate specific files by clicking the "search" icon in the upper left corner and typing in what you are looking for.
Supported Downloading Files from Local Network and AirScreen to Quest Local Storage: Navigate to the file list, click the "wrench" icon in the upper right corner, select "Download Files" and select the specific file.
Supported Being Used As an External Player: You can use SKYBOX as an external player for Stremio, CX File Explorer and etc.
Added Long Press Menu: You can press and hold a file or folder to open the menu, which allows you to delete, download, favorite or perform other operations.

Optimized the Delete Feature
Allowed AirScreen Communication on Public Network
Fixed some known issues

How to switch to the BETA channel:

Go to Meta Quest store, login your Meta account, and find the detailed page of SKYBOX VR Video Player.
Scroll down the page, click the dropdown menu next to "Version" and select "2.0.0 Preview".
Update the SKYBOX app on your Quest device.

About ISO Playback: The current version only supports playing 2D ISO files. 3D ISO files are temporarily not supported.

About Multi-Player Mode: You can invite friends to watch videos from these sources:

YouTube Videos.
Local Videos. The video files must be stored in identical file paths and have identical filenames across all devices.
Videos from SMB, DLNA, AirScreen servers. All users must be connected to the same Local Area Network.
Videos from WebDAV servers.
Videos from Plex, Emby and Jellyfin servers.

This is exciting news. Can you explain in a little more detail what you mean by enhanced spatial audio? Do you decode the audio to two channels or do try to place the audio virtually using the meta spatial audio APIs? Or in other words will I hear stuff moving all around me when I watch Top Gun 😃

I'm having network connectivity issues that are new to this version.
Here is my network topology:
Quest → Internet sharing via Mac Mini in same room → wired ethernet to FreeNAS running Plex
This has always worked and is one of the reasons I continue to use you. Other apps couldn't find the DLNA server this way.
In version 2.0 I can connect to the plex server, I can see videos but anytime I try to play content I get a "can't play video" error.
If I change the setup to
Quest → Orbi Mesh → FreeNAS running Plex this works fine.
This happens whether I connect to Plex directly or via DLNA

This isn't a huge deal but I do have connectivity issues where my device is located.

Hello, thank you for your feedback.

Are you using Quest 2 or Quest 3?

To further investigate the issue, we hope you could share with us the "Info" level logs.

Click SKYBOX's "Global Settings", change the "Logging Levels" to "Info".
Reproduce the issue you mentioned, then click the BUG icon in the upper-right corner of Global Settings.
Send us a bug report attached with logs(tick the "upload logs" box). Thank you!

I have a few questions:
Will this update be available on the Apple Vision Pro?
Will there be the ability to watch together without having Facebook?
In the future will the room size increase?

shazam85035 Hi there, unfortunately this update will not be available on Apple Vision Pro and we will have to have oculus account logged in to watch movies together with your friends. And we'll increase the room size in the future if it's needed by more users. Thank you for your support!

Will this update be coming to the pcvr version?
