I can't find a way to go to next photo without pressing forward for some time, I would much prefer being able to skip to next photo instantly.

If you want to skip to the next photo instantly, please keep the image in Pause mode. Then you can skip to the next/previous image by holding the Grip button and moving the thumbstick left/right.
Is there a slideshow mode?
bncecil Seems to be, I don't see an option to change that.
