Below I posted I cannot size up beyond 1.5times scale in void theater, and there are "Skybox Stopping and dumping to the home menu" problem when I select movies in DLNA mode".

I think there are several problems in new "0.1.8.8 version".

So, I want to roll-back to privious "Oculus Go 0.1.8.2.apk".
If I have it, I will sideload 0.1.8.2 to my Oculus Go.
Plz give me a idea how to do that!!

We will look into the zoom problem, we didn't change that. It seems odd that it could even be affected by other things.

As for the DLNA issue, what kind of router(hardware)/media server(software) are you using? What movie were you watching? is it possible for you to send us a sample video via dropbox or google drive at support@skybox.xyz ? Also by dumping to the home menu, do you mean the SKYBOX home menu or Oculus? What were your actions before this crashing? Were you trying to open the DLNA folder? or browsing the files? or trying to open up the film?

I know it is a lot of questions, but I will really appreciate it if you could tell me these infos because it seems like a serious issue and we really want to fix it ASAP.

I will ask our dev team about a temporary roll back but I think it is better we solve this problem once and for all for everyone. And we really need your help.

We just checked the zoom issue with older versions.
The size has not changed.
Actually we were going to increase the zoom range to 2 instead of 1.5 soon, so it will get bigger anyways.

Belows are my answers to your questions.

Zoom Issue:

In the previous version when you watch movies in DLNA mode on VOID theater, you can zoom over the 1.5times scales.

That means you can increase the void screen size over 1.5times.
I think It was about 20%~40% larger than "the pre-determined Maximum 1.5times scale".

You can do that like below way in the previous version.
-> When you open a movie in DLNA mode on Void Theater, you scroll up with Oculus Controller over the 1.5times scale.
Then you will see the zoomed up about 20%~40% larger than "the pre-determined Maximum 1.5times scale".

I want your dev team to do a temporary roll-back ASAP.

And I will anticipate the "3 times!! instead of 2 times" zoom range in the next update.

Because Big Screen is a really good advatage to VR player comparing with it's crystal clear rival QHD/UHD/4k/8k monitor.

As for the DLNA issue, what kind of router(hardware)/media server(software) are you using?

I use a ordinary 100MB router with 2 antennas, and in the previous version there were
no problems.

Router brand-name is Netis(WF2419). -> you can check that in Google image.

And my UPNP/DLNA server is "serviio version 1.9.2(the newest)", and also it had no problems in previous version.

What movie were you watching? is it possible for you to send us a sample video via dropbox or google drive at support@skybox.xyz ?

It is not the problem of movie.
It is not the problem of file-format/container(MP4, AVI, MKV, mpg,,,,).

Because I have D: E: F: G: H: I: J: K: L: M: (ofcourse including C:) 11 HDDs built in my-Tower computer.

I tested several videos on my HDDs in "serviio DLNA server".
Sometimes it work, but sometimes it didn't work.

I mean "Dumping to the Oculus home menu".
My action was just trying to open up the film.

Thanks tons for these useful info.
Our test engineers will test these situations out.
As for the roll-back, I'm sorry that we might not be able to do that on Oculus Go.
It is much more complicated than using an apk on a smartphone. We have to develop a special app just for the installation.
So we are just going to work on solving the bugs and release them as official version.
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi,

We tried to test the DLNA problem you mentioned on the platform you have, but we could not recreate the problem you were having.
Could you please download the VLC mobile app on your smart phone and see if the content on your server could be played by VLC?
Also as for the zoom problem, we confirmed that you were able to zoom in a little bit more after the zoom scale reaches 1.5x in the older version. We are not sure why yet, but I think that was actually a happy accident right there, meaning it was not supposed to happen. I will inform my team about this however so maybe we could increase the zoom higher than 2x.

I have had the same problem since the last update. I have a mac running universal media server and also a kodi box sharing its videos over DLNA. Both of them are working right now I can verify them with a windows desktop on the same network as the DLNA servers. The router is a wrt1900acs v2 standard firmware. The Go is on the same network as the server. It has been working for weeks now. The only thing that has changed is the new update of skybox.
The Go is working over the network with the DLNA server, I mean the network is working because I can find the DLNA server with the gallery function in the Go and play the videos using the gallery. It is just skybox not working anymore.
So right now I am using the gallery to play my videos but I miss skybox sadly. I would love the old version so I could sideload it.

Right! It might be my lucky to watch movies over the 1.5times scale.
So, I really want to have more than 2x (really want 3x) scale option in VOID theater.

As you know, I am in the Beta-state.
Beta-version also only has 1.5x.
Plz size-up the scale in beta-vesion ASAP.
I want to quickly chcek-out the 2x or 3x scale screen in VOID theater even in beta-version.

Roll-Back

I understand the complication of Roll-Back.
But my recommendation is below.
As you know now, many users complain about this update in Oculus-Go(you can check that complaint in ratings & review), and Roll-Back is complicated thing.
And that is really serious problem in Skybox.
How about new update?
I mean...
You can update previous version only renaming new version, just like 0.1.8.8.5 version.
With that you can update previous version to this small update version just like new version.

And then you dev team test or scrutinize more 0.1.8.8 version.

If that cannot be possible, Plz send me previou-version apk.
If you send me previous-version apk, I will try to side-loat it.
and then, I will tell you how it goes.

VLC player

I have installed VLC player on my android-phone two-month ago.
There "was and is" no problem watching movies in DLNA mode.
In my android phone, there are "BubbleUpnp", "DMS Explorer", "UpnpBrowser", "UPnpPlayer", "PlayerXtreme", "AnDLNA", "Power Media Player", "Server Cast", "Archos Video".
They are all working well in DLNA mode.
They never have problem finding and playingback "Serviio" DLNA server.

And I have other players in Oculus-Go, like "Pigasus Player", "Samsung VR" which all support DLNA service as you know.
Yesterday and Today I watched several movies on those players in DLNA mode without any problem.

And also I had side-loaed many UPNP/DLNA supporting apps to my Oculus-Go.
In my Oculus-Go, there are "UpnpBrowser", "UPnpPlayer", "AnDLNA", and so on....
They are all working well in DLNA mode.
They never have problem finding and playingback "Serviio" DLNA server.

Surprisingly, I have even side-loaded "VLC Player" to my Oculus-Go.
Only "side-loaded VLC Player on my Oculus-Go" sometimes has problem in finding
"Serviio" server.
But my-phone VLC player never has problem finding "Serviio" server.

Only Skybox-Update has DLNA problems like other users say...

Samba-Server in 0.1.8.8 version and 0.1.8.9 version(beta-version)

I really impressed the new-Samba-Server Support.
It has a really good update, and I changed to Samba Service when I watch movie with Skybox.

I don't want to use any longer "DLNA server" or "air-screen" in Skybox.
Because Samba-Server is almost perfect.
It can scan all video-fomat and playback all type of movies and support sub-titles(srt) automatically.

Oculus Go 0.1.8.8
- Now support SMB devices.
- Display full filenames when cursor hovers over files.
- Support Pause/play by double-clicking the Touchpad.

I really like those update. Good-Job dev team!!

Beta-test

As you know, I already installed 0.1.8.9(beta) version.
It also has the same problem with 0.1.8.8 version.

Sometimes It works fine in playing DLNA mode.
Sometimes It dumps me out to the "Oculus home menu".

And It also doesn't support over 1.5times sacle in VOID theater.
I hope support for 2x or 3x scale-up in VOID theater in beta-version ASAP.

I, like others, have lost the ability to stream videos from my local NAS with the latest update from the Oculus Go store. Please roll-back to the previous version in the Oculus Go store or correct the issue that is causing the smb recognition to not work. Thank you.

The SMB feature is removed temporarily in the version rollback.
You can still use SMB if you sign up for our beta version.

Andy No luck. I uninstalled and reinstalled from the Oculus store. I'm pretty sure that my issue is with SMB and not DLNA. Any idea when the next update that will restore the SMB feature will be?
