[SKYBOX VR] Quest v1.1.6: Added Multi-language Keyboard and Casting

Hey friends,

SKYBOX v1.1.6 is now available to all users on Quest standalone. This update brings new features, enhancements as well as some bug fixes.

What's new in v1.1.6:

Added multi-language keyboard
Supported deleting files over SMB
Supported AV1 decoding (Quest 3 only)
Supported .MPO, .WEBP and .JPS image format
Supported auto-detecting Full SBS format using file name
Supported adding Network & YouTube & AirScreen videos to Favorites
Supported casting videos to headset (experimental feature)
Fixed some known issues

In YouTube channel, you can change the keyboard language to English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish and Russian. You can also move the position of the keyboard. To close it, please tap the B button or tap anywhere outside the keyboard.

This version also supports AV1 decoding. If you're using Quest 3, you'll be able to play AV1 videos smoothly and enjoy 8K YouTube videos.

You can enjoy .MPO, .WEBP and .JPS images using SKYBOX as well. If you get wrong aspect ratio, please click Advanced Settings, turn on Full SBS Matching and see if it helps. You can also contain the following keywords in the file/folder name to help SKYBOX recognize the Full SBS or Full TB format.

Full SBS format: "Full_SBS" or "fullsbs"
Full TB format: "Full_TB" or "fulltb"

Casting is an experimental feature. You can cast videos and images on your Quest device via DLNA protocol. Check this FAQ to know more about casting.

What does "Presentation Mode" do?

bncecil Hi there, when you turn on "Presentation Mode" (like Kiosk mode) in Global Settings, videos will automatically play from the beginning everytime you put on your headset. Please note that if you put on the headset quickly after putting it off (less than 5 seconds), the video may start from where you left off.

Thanks for update. Is there any chance to add multi-language keyboard in NETWORK page so that we could change keyboard language when we enter username and password ?

Great update. Notice that the YouTube shorts videos are included in list when searching for videos. Could you add option to hide shorts videos in YouTube search.

I read the release notes, but it is just a note, not a manual. For some features, it is difficult to figure out how to use them. "Presentation mode" is one of them.
Can I find a manual somewhere?
I turned on "Presentation Mode" in Global Settings, started playing a video on the device (I assume that's the way to select the video to present because there is no other way), quitted skybox app, put the headset on the table, put it into sleep.
After a few minutes, I put the headset on, turn it on - I didn't see the video.
I believe the presentation mode works because it is specifically announced in the release.
It didn't work for me because I didn't use it correctly.
It would be very helpful if there is a users manual.

Thanks for the update, you and everyone else!

Can I ask if the next update will include being able to Rewind/Fast Forward based on exact seconds like older versions of SkyBox instead of now based on Key Frame which is annoying and terrible?

Or at least give us the option to pick which way we want it?

Don't quit the app. Play video then take headset off during video wait for it go sleep. Put headset on again video should play from beginning again. Think this is how it works so it plays video from beginning for each person trying on the headset. Try that to see

YouTube 8k is encoded only in the av1 codec I believe which is why it's q3 only. Q2 can play 8k but not av1.

Great version update on supporting 8k YouTube videos, but there are some issues when playing 8k HDR videos on Quest 3, it is quite laggy, hope can get fix on these

Could you please send us the INFO level logs? We'd like to check the logs to further investigate the laggy issue.

You just need to go to SKYBOX's Global Settings, change the Logging Levels to "INFO", reproduce the issue, then click the BUG icon in the upper-right corner of Global Settings, and send us a bug report attached with logs(tick the "upload logs" box). Thank you!

Greetings! I tried using the delete file over SMB feature but the app fails to delete the files despite there being full permissions in place for accessing the shares and modifying files. Any tips or limitations to otherwise think about?
