  • The mysterious distinction between hidden files and hide folder :)

Hello my friends,

Recently, along with the release of Oculus Go, many new users have been asking about 'how to use hidden files' and 'how to use the hide folder' and 'what is the difference'.

I figured it would be useful to offer an detailed explanation here in this forum.

Basically there are two kinds of hiding in SKYBOX:

The Hide Folder is an actual folder in directory that is used to hide files from apps other than SKYBOX. You have access to it when you plug your device in to a PC.

The Hidden Files are the files you want to hide inside of SKYBOX (i.e. hidden files is not actually a separate folder but rather the selected few existing folders). The way to use Hidden Files is as following:
1. Open the folder in which contains the files you want to hide.
2. Click on the upper right side menu on the files interface, and click on "Hide Current Folder."
3. You can hide more files/folders.
4. To hide/show all hidden files/folders, click on the upper right side menu and turn on/off the switch "Show Hidden Folders".
5. Hidden files will disappear from all history/collection.

Andy

      Andy,
That sounds great but I can't find the hide folder! On my pc in internal storage I find folders such as dcim movies android etc but nothing for skybox or hide?
      thanks

Same problem here. Skybox is running fine and plays videos that I drop into the "movies" folder when accessing the Oculus Go from my Windows PC (Windows 10), but there is no "Skybox" folder nor any subdirectories to be seen. Enabling "view hidden files and folders" has no effect. How do I make these folders show up?

          Hi Andy,
The procedure you mentioned about hidden file, is it within Oculus Go app environment? When I'm in a certain folder within Oculus Go Skybox app, the right hand side function doesn't have a "hide current folder" option.

We will try to located the issue as soon as we get one.
            Sorry for the inconvenience!!!

The root directorys can not be hidden as that will be too big and impractical. But you should be able to hide the sub-folders.
One possibility is that you have already hidden its parent folder? For instance: A(B) , if you hide A, then B will automatically be hidden and the hide option will be frozen.

Let me know if it helps.

                Ooops....
I just notice my words are turned into emojis...
                What I was saying was:

A(C) , if you hide A, then C will automatically be hidden and the hide option will be frozen.
