So, I have had a Vive, a Rift, an HTC One M(8) with a Daydream Tzumi, and now the Samsung Galaxy s9+ with Gear VR.
So far the best app I was able to find (once I got use to it) was on my Daydream, for Android. Unfortunately, that app does not seem to support whatever operating system the Samsung is using.
I am a HEAVY file downloader and designer. I make a lot of my own content. And I need a VR player that is really really flexible. I won't name the software I've liked the most in public. I think I may have sent you a support e-mail already.
But just to see if this speeds things along, I am listing my feature wish list here.
For 3D files, I need the ability to adjust the stereo base. Not every movie or recorder is exactly right, and it helps if you can adjust the stereo window.
For 2D pictures, I need the ability to zoom in to the point where I can't see edges. For some videos it is more immersive to not actually be able to see the edges of the video and feel like you are IN the video. I am aware that video quality may suffer as a result, but sometimes that doesn't really matter much for my purposes.
When in "void" screen. I need to be able to free form move the screen up, down, left, and right. Up and down works, but when going left or right, the screen also tries to roll. Which means I have to to fidget with the moving the screen around to get it positioned right. I don't even understand why you'd want to roll video like that.
Many 180 degree 3D (VR) videos do not start oriented properly. This is the first VR player I've run into that with.
When I try to reorient 180 or 360 degree videos I get mixed results. One time it will let me move it up, down, left right, other times just left or right. Sometimes if it lets me move up or down, its only about a 1/3 of the way. If I want to lay back in bed and watch something, it won't always let me move the video up enough to orient it that way..
There is no file name, date, size sorting of files. This makes looking through hundreds or thousands of files really tedious.
I would love a step one frame right, and step one frame left button on either side of the play button.
I would also like a little more of a zoom in 180 Degree 3D and 360 Degree videos.
For the moment, that's it. I've yet to find the perfect viewer, but most of them have been pretty close. The one I had for Android is the one that I would say is probably the best roundup of features and is the most flexible. So far, I've checked out about 7 viewers on Gear VR, and this is the one I like the most. So I am hoping you'll make my day and work on these features..
