SMB storage with Rasberry Pi

has anyone used a Rasberry pi as a samba/smb storage device for the quest 2? I was curious to how well videos up to 8k are affected. I have a laptop that I use but I would like to clear up some space and figured I'd consider a pi 4 for this.

Rasberry pi 4 has usb3 port, so it's ok to stream 8K video on smb

I have an external hard drive connected to a RasPi3 running Kodi (OpenElec). The Skybox app on my Oculus Quest 2 recognized the external drive immediately without any configuration. It was recognized as an SMB share in the Network area. Streams perfectly..
