[SKYBOX VR] Quest v1.1.0 Release: HDR, AV1, 200-degree videos, and more

Hi there - when the app detects and plays a 200 degree video on the Quest 2, there is no sound output - is this a known bug? When forcing the same videos to play in other modes by changing the filename, sound plays normally.

No, it's not a known issue. Do you play videos from Quest local storage, or stream videos from your computer to headset via SMB, DLNA or AirScreen?

Can you tell us the previous filename and the current filename of your 200-degree video? In other words, the sound plays normally in what VR mode?

At present, we haven't reproduced the same issue. We'd much appreciate it if you can share with us a sample video for testing purpose. You can just tell us a download link(website) of the video or transfer the video through Google drive, One Drive, or torrent links.

Looking forward to your reply. We'll try fixing the issue once figuring out what went wrong.

Hey the (1.1.0FIX ) Fixed the playback over network (SMB) that made it so you got stuck on a black screen however not sure if its my network setup or not but whenever i play a 200-degree video(which works great) but then mid video switch over to different 200-degree video nothing happens it displays that its playing the selected video but does not actually play it. I haven't side load two 200-degree video and tested it that way but just posting to ask if anyone else is having this issue before i start messing around with it.

Hello,

We just released a fix version 1.1.0(548). Please follow the steps to try the fix version and see if the fast forward and laggy playback issues were fixed.

Find SKYBOX in Oculus Quest store(using browser). You can directly click the link:.https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/2063931653705427/
Scroll down, you will find “Languages”, “Version”, “Developer” and etc.
Click the down arrow next to “Version” and select “v1.1.0 Fix”.
Uninstall and reinstall SKYBOX on your Quest. You can also click Global Settings and turn on “Show FPS” to check the version number. You should be using fix version 1.1.0(548).

(Note: Make sure you login your Oculus/Facebook account in Oculus Quest store.)

Regarding the thumbnail issue, would you mind sharing with us a video recording and your log files?

Saw in another thread I dug up that spatialized audio was removed in 1.1.0, which explains why I'm not hearing it. If it had been included in the patch notes, I wouldn't have lost as much time trying to find the issue... Just saying 🙂

Really love the update and progress otherwise, amazing work ! HDR support was a must with everything becoming hdr recently. Thanks a lot 🙂

I will stay in the previous version for spatialiazed audio for now though. Any estimate on when it would be back, and why it had to be removed temporarily ?

Could you please add a TOGGLE for 200° fov?

Currently the only way to "enable" 200° support is renaming all the files (remove spaces, special characters, etc). Most often Skybox doesnt recognize 200° files properly ... a simple toggle would help so much with this.

Just tried 2 MKX200 videos, and both of them were really laggy here. Yet VR200 format has been recognized.

Hi, do you use Quest 1 or Quest 2?

If you're using Quest 1, high resolution videos (4K and above) might be laggy. It has something to do with the Quest 1 performance.

If you're using Quest 2, please share with us a MKX200 video for testing purpose. You can just tell us the download website(link), or share it through Google drive and torrent link. It would help us troubleshoot if you can send us the Log folder in Quest 2\Android\data\xyz.skybox.player.ovr\files. We'll try our best to fix the laggy issue once we figure out what went wrong.

Although my Wi-Fi router is of 802.11ac, the LAN side still stick on 100Mbps.
That could be the point. I'll upgrade the LAN speed then before reporting the result again.

upgrade skybox to use hands 2.0 please. Now it too slip when use hand tracking to control.
